Monumento de Sa Gruxi Santa

Sa Gruxi Santa” (The Holy Cross) is a crafted trachyte column resting on a stepped base. A wrought-iron cross rises from its capital. It was donated in 1802 by Giuseppe Concas, a native of Villacidro who moved to Serramanna. Grateful to the community for the warm welcome received and the prosperity achieved, he left a lasting memory of himself and his gratitude. Over the years, the name of the monument, located in a widening of Via Serra, began to identify the area of the town where it stands. Today, “Sa Gruxi Santa” is considered for all intents and purposes a place-name identifying a small neighborhood. The text of the inscription on the column shaft, difficult to read due to the natural erosion of the stone, reads: Memory of Giuseppe Concas 1902.
