The Overall Ring of the Visit Campidano Project

The entire network spans over 100 km of trails, divided into 4 distinct routes that connect the areas of greatest historical, cultural, and scenic interest in the region. Its central location relative to other areas of value — from the Guspini hills to the gateway of the Medio Campidano — allows for a ‘hub-and-spoke’ exploration: each route radiates outward, giving cycle tourists the total freedom to customize their own experience.

You can therefore choose to tackle each route individually, combine several based on your available time and energy, or ride the outer perimeter of the entire network as if it were one large loop. For the more adventurous, each trail also offers natural connection points to neighboring territories, opening the door to wider exploration toward further places of interest in south-central Sardinia.

San Gavino Monreale — The heart of the Campidano cycle touring networ

Nestled in the Campidano plain, one of Sardinia’s most fertile and historically rooted agricultural areas, it occupies a privileged geographical position that makes it the ideal starting point for exploring the region on two wheels. The town is not simply the logistical hub of the trail network: it is the natural centerpiece of a system designed to showcase an authentic rural landscape of cultivated fields, country lanes, and open horizons where the Campidano light continuously changes throughout the seasons.

Over time, the region’s agricultural heritage has shaped a dense network of ‘white roads’ — dirt tracks and farm lanes — which today are in excellent condition and perfectly suited for cycle touring. This ideal terrain for gravel bikes is the system’s greatest strength, though the routes are also fully enjoyable with a touring bike, mountain bike (MTB), or e-bike, making them accessible to a wide variety of cyclists.
