Monumento ai Caduti

The Monument was inaugurated with a solemn ceremony in 1922 to commemorate the soldiers who fell in World War I. The artwork consists of a Doric column made of dolomitic limestone from Gonnesa, created by Giuseppe Maria Sartorio (1854-1922), a renowned sculptor who was highly active in Sardinia during that period. Inscribed at the base of the monument are the names of all the Serramannesi who fell or went missing in the Wars of Independence and the World Wars. Every year on November 4th, the Armed Forces Day celebrations and the commemoration of the fallen of all wars take place nearby, featuring the laying of a laurel wreath.
